Yamanote line game × Traps. Answer the prompt, dodge others' NG words
An association game like "Kokon Tozai" or the Yamanote Line game, with an NG-word "trap" twist. When it's your turn, give an answer to the prompt — but watch out for the traps others have set. Even after elimination, you can still trigger your trap.
Decide the theme and how many "Dons" (eliminations) end the game. Themes work best with 10+ valid answers (e.g., "Japanese prefectures"). The app has 200+ themes. Don count = number of eliminations possible per theme. Start with 1; increase as you get used to it.
Everyone registers one trap word. Pick something others might answer.
Players answer in a random order. On your turn, answer something matching the theme.
When an answer is submitted, all others (including eliminated players) judge: did the answer match anyone's trap? When in doubt, defer to the player living furthest south. Even if the answer doesn't fit the theme, only the trap match is judged at this step. If it triggered a trap, skip theme judgment and go to Result.
The next player up judges "does this answer fit the theme?" If not, or if someone already gave it, press "Invalid Answer."
Three outcomes: A. Safe — answerer survives. B. Don — trap triggered. C. Eliminated — invalid answer. For B and C, the answerer is eliminated. When eliminations reach the Don count, the game ends. If both B and C apply, B (trap) takes priority.
Everyone starts at 0. Elimination: -1 for the answerer regardless of order. Don: 1 point moves from answerer to trap-setter. 2nd Don = 2 points, 3rd = 3, etc. If one answer matches multiple traps, points move to each.
When the agreed game count or point total is reached, the player with the most points wins
Triggering a trap earns points
Getting eliminated loses points
Targeted traps ("that person would totally answer X") trigger more often
Triggering multiple traps drains points fast — stay alert
Later traps are worth more, so a more obscure trap word can pay off big
